VA Elite Alums Play in NCAA Tournament!

Congratulations to Megan Shifflett (Penn State), Amanda Friday(Tennessee), and Cindy Murphy (Delaware), as their respective collegiate teams have been selected to the NCAA Tournament! Click here for the tournament schedule.
In local NCAA Tournament news, American University will host the first two rounds of the tournament. American will face North Carolina on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. in the second of two regional semi-finals at American's Bender Arena. No. 11 Oregon and Delaware will square off in the first match at 5 p.m. The winners of each match on Friday will meet Saturday at 6 p.m., again at American. Click here for more info.

Open Clinic on Dec 13th

VA Elite Volleyball Club, in partnership with NVVA, is hosting an open volleyball clinic Saturday Dec 13 for both players and coaches.
The coaches’ clinic will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm and the players’ clinics will be at 1:00 to 3:30 for eighth grade and below and from 4:30 to 7:00 for high school players. The clinics will be administered at a location to be determined.
The coaching seminar will cover Offensive system development, Setters training, and Defense and Libero training while the players’ clinics will be general skills clinics being administered by nationally recognized clinicians.
Our Clinicians Dave DeGroot, John Kessel, and Pat Zartmen bring over 100 years of playing and coaching experience to Northern Virginia.
Dave DeGroot is an accomplished technical volleyball trainer, especially in setter development. He was an All-American setter at UC Santa Barbara (1976) and has over 25 years experience coaching collegiate women's volleyball and over 30 years of instructing clinics and camps. DeGroot served as the head coach at the University of California at Berkeley and assisted at numerous top collegiate programs including the University of Hawaii, University of Texas, and the University of California at Santa Barbara.
John Kessel brings a wealth of experience as a player, coach, author, administrator and clinician to USA Volleyball and serves as its number one ambassador for the sport. In 1995, Volleyball Magazine named him as one of the 50 most important people in the sport of volleyball in the first 100 years.
John has been on staff at USA Volleyball for over 20 years and currently focuses on the growth of the sport at the grass roots level and acts as USAV’s top clinician.
Pat Zartman has over 40 years as a volleyball player and coach, including serving as our US National Team coach from 1970-74. He has coached at the High School, Club, Professional, and international level. He is also the co-author of the very successful book Coaching Youth Volleyball.

Reminder - Player/Parent Meeting

The mandatory parent/player meeting is Dec 2nd, at Madeira from 6:30-9pm. Click here to download the parent paperwork packet - it would be helpful if you could fill it out and bring it with you to the meeting, along with your daughter's birth certificate and a check for the first payment. Every player and at least one parent must attend.
